Recitals are a celebration of the students – a day for them to gather their friends and family together and share what they are working on. I try my best to ensure that it’s a positive experience for everyone participating by reminding them that the recital is not a professional performance but really just an opportunity to pick and hopefully refine a favorite song or piece of music and to gain some valuable experience playing in front of a caring audience. All levels of students are welcome and encouraged to perform. We typically have a reception after the recital where we share some snacks and treats so that the whole thing feels more like a party than a stressful situation.
