Group LEssons & ensembleS

Playing with another person or group is one of the most satisfying experiences a musician can have. Every musician I have ever played with has taught me something. If we are open to hearing one another, we are each others greatest teachers.

Playing with an ensemble offers students many opportunities for learning because the experience brings unique challenges. Students have to learn to focus on their own part, even as they hear other parts. They have to learn how to react quickly to mistakes and be able to jump back into the piece without derailing the whole ensemble. Their sense of rhythm will develop and improve. The results are rewarding. Students often realize that together, the whole sound is often greater than the sum of its parts. A little positive peer pressure  combined with a lot of laughter makes for a unique learning environment. Musicians get to know each other and have fun while learning valuable skills.
